Hateg Island was a truly fascinating environment on life on earth. The issue with flightless azdarchids is that the wings are not atrophied like you would see in flightless birds. One would think the wing fingers would shrink for a dedicated ground dweller as it would get in the way.
There is no way that puny muscle mass capable to support flight. Forget flight, they shouldn't even be able to take off. Gliding by falling from cliffsides, maybe. Even then, it needs other forces at play. Winds. Seriously powerful winds. Probably akin to F4 or F5 class of tornadoes. Constantly, for a very long time. Suggesting that the earth itself spins much faster than today, for whatever reasons...
