The Fauna of Hateg Island

Hateg Island was a truly fascinating environment on life on earth. A key example of insular dwarfism and the lengths life can go to adapt to their environment, many unique animals called the island home, and many of which were surely some of the most unique animals to have lived during the Mesozoic.

There is no way that puny muscle mass capable to support flight. Forget flight, they shouldn't even be able to take off. Gliding by falling from cliffsides, maybe. Even then, it needs other forces at play. Winds. Seriously powerful winds. Probably akin to F4 or F5 class of tornadoes. Constantly, for a very long time. Suggesting that the earth itself spins much faster than today, for whatever reasons... This global tornadoes would also explains dinosaurs seemingly aerodynamics physiology. They're basically floating through winds. Which also helps alleviate their enormous body mass by continuously traveling near these tornadoes. That's what I thought without basis. I'm no scientist, just trying to make sense of it...

You mean these animals benefited from the lack of predation? That can't be right. According to any wildlife documentary today Attenborough and his army of radical conservationists adamantly proclaim that no ecosystem can survive without some sort of super predator. i.e. anything that could eat a human.Just found your channel, while I was searching for referenc about the fauna of Hátszeg (= original Hungarian name with a long pronaunced A, and it means means: ''Ridge'' or more precisely: ''Back-Corner''), since I am about to sculpt one or two of the species mentioned in your video. I liked the quality and the ammount of information a lot, nice work. After I follow some Paleontology and Space-Science channels already, I added yours to this list as well! :) The issue with flightless azdarchids is that the wings are not atrophied like you would see in flightless birds. One would think the wing fingers would shrink for a dedicated ground dweller as it would get in the way.
